Where to buy in Chiloé: a guide by area.
Chiloé is bigger than it looks on the map. Choosing the area first sorts out everything else: how much you'll drive, which services are nearby and what landscape you see every day.
Castro and surroundings
The island's capital, with a hospital, shops and Mocopulli airport nearby. Nercón, Llau-Llao and Rilán are minutes from town and face the inner sea.
Ancud and the north
The gateway from the mainland, across the Chacao channel. Long beaches and Puñihuil, with its penguin colony.
Quemchi
A quiet seaside town on the east coast, facing the northern islands of the inner sea.
Dalcahue and Tenaún
Inner sea, heritage churches and the Dalcahue market. The ferry to Quinchao island leaves from here.
The islands
Quinchao, Lemuy and the other inner-sea islands, linked by ferry. For those looking for calm.
Chonchi, Queilén and Quellón
The south of the inner sea: coastal towns, coves and, at the end of the road, Quellón.
Pacific coast
Cucao and Chiloé National Park: open beaches, lakes and forest. Far from everything, and that's the point.
On the Recala map you can explore each area and see its places and properties.
