Privacy and data.

What data we ask for, why, and how we look after it.

Who is responsible for your data

The controller of the personal data processed at Recala is Lukas Stöwhas, an individual, RUT 22.202.908-2, address Egon Nicklichek Felmer 284, Castro, Región de Los Lagos. Recala is the name they work under, from Castro, Chiloé. For anything about your data, write to recala.chiloe@gmail.com or on WhatsApp from the contact button.

What data we ask for

Browsing the map, the listings and the guides doesn't ask you for anything. We only ask at two moments:

  • If you request a visit: your name, your WhatsApp, the property, the day and time of day you prefer, what you want the land for, when you plan to buy and, if you want to share it, your price range.
  • If you ask us to notify you about new land: your name, your WhatsApp, the area and, if you had them selected on the map, the use and the maximum price.
  • In both cases we keep the date, where you came from (for example, an Instagram ad), the exact wording of each box you ticked and the version of this policy that was published.

Your price range says something about your financial situation: that's why it is optional and we only use it for what is explained here. If you message or call us directly, we record the same and send you this policy in our first message.

What we use it for, and on what basis

  • Arranging your visit: confirming it, reminding you and sending you the exact location of the property. Basis: your consent, the first box on the form.
  • Deciding whom to reply to first, with the score explained below. Basis: your consent, the same box.
  • Letting you know when land is published in the area you asked about. Basis: your consent, the “Notify me” box.
  • Offering you other land similar to what you're looking for. Basis: your consent, the second (optional) box, or you asking us in the conversation.
  • Recording the date, the property and the source of your interest, as a record of the brokerage for the owner and the broker. Basis: our legitimate interest in being able to prove who introduced each property; for that we keep only that data.
  • If you buy, what tax and brokerage laws require. Basis: legal compliance.

We don't add you to mailing lists or message you about anything else. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

The score

From your answers we calculate a score from 0 to 100 that helps us decide whom to reply to first. It adds more if your price range covers the property, if you plan to buy soon, if you picked a day for the visit and if you want the land for what it is offered for. If you'd rather not share your price range, it is calculated from the rest.

The score decides nothing on its own: a person on the team reviews every request and decides how to proceed, including whether to introduce you to the broker. You can ask us for your score, how it was calculated and for a person to review your case, and give us your view.

Who sees it

  • The Recala team and the real estate broker who shows you the land: they see your name, your WhatsApp, your answers and what has happened with your request. The broker only uses it to help you with that purchase.
  • Providers who process it only on our behalf: Google (Firebase and the site's server), the notification services of the team's browsers (Apple, Google, Microsoft or Mozilla, which receive notifications encrypted and cannot read them) and WhatsApp (Meta), when we talk to you there.

We don't share it with anyone else, unless a law or a court requires it.

Where it is stored, and outside Chile

Your data is stored in Google Firebase, on servers in Santiago, Chile. The site, however, runs on Google servers in Virginia, United States: your data passes through them when you send a form and when the team works in the panel. Chile does not yet recognize the United States as a country with an adequate level of data protection. Google processes it under the Google Cloud data processing terms, which require it to use the data only on our behalf and with security measures. WhatsApp (Meta) stores conversations outside Chile, under its own terms.

If we move the site to servers in Chile, we'll say so here.

How long we keep it

Your contact details are kept while your search or your alert is active and for up to 12 months after our last contact; then we delete them. If you buy land with us, the date, the property and the source of your interest are kept as a record of the transaction for as long as the law requires.

How we protect it

Your connection to the site is encrypted. Only the team can enter the panel, with passkeys (Face ID or the phone's fingerprint) instead of passwords, and each person only sees what concerns them. Property photos are published without the location data the camera stores.

Your rights

You can ask us to see your data, correct it, delete it, object to its use (including the score), block it while we review your request or receive it in a format you can take elsewhere. It's free. Write to the controller to recala.chiloe@gmail.com or on WhatsApp from the contact button: we confirm we received it within 2 business days and reply in writing within 15 business days. If you ask us to block it, we do so within 2 business days.

You can withdraw your consent at any time: reply NO to any message where we offer you land, or write to us. We stop messaging you and, if you ask, we delete your data. What was done before you withdrew it remains valid.

If you're not satisfied

Chile's Law 19,628 on the protection of private life applies today: if we don't reply in time or you disagree with our answer, you can go to court. Once Law 21,719 on personal data protection takes effect (currently set for December 1, 2026; Congress is discussing a postponement), you'll be able to file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Agency, after making your request to us.

If you sell your land with us

What you answer in “Sell your land” reaches us on WhatsApp: the site doesn't store it. If you give us the sale, we keep what the brokerage needs: your name, your WhatsApp, your RUT, the exact location of the land and its documents (sale authorization, title certificate, tax appraisal and others). The basis is the agreement you sign. All of that lives in the private panel and never reaches the site; it is kept while the agreement lasts and for up to 5 years after it ends, as a record of the transaction. The site only shows what we agree with you: photos, price, size, services and the approximate area, or the exact location if you decide so.

Property locations

The map shows approximate areas. The exact location of a property is shared with whoever books a visit, to protect the owner and the deal; it is only published when the owner agrees.

What your browser keeps and external services

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. If you arrive through one of our ads or links, your browser keeps which one for 30 days (in its storage, not in a cookie), and we only receive it along with your request. To show the map, the weather and the UF value, your browser connects to Esri (satellite imagery), Open-Meteo (weather) and mindicador.cl (UF), which receive your IP address like any website. To prevent abuse, our server remembers for a few minutes how many requests come from each IP address, without storing it.

What we measure on the site

To learn what works and what to improve, we count visits, pages viewed, properties opened, buttons tapped, time on the site and which network each visit came from (Instagram, Facebook, Google or another). We only keep daily totals: we don't know who you are, we don't store your IP address or what you did visit by visit, and we don't use third-party services to measure. While the tab is open, your browser remembers that your visit was already counted, so it isn't counted twice. If we ever measure ads with other tools, we'll say so here and ask for your permission.

Minors

Recala is for people over 18. If we receive data from a minor, we delete it.

Changes

This is version 2 of this policy. If we change it, we'll publish the new version here with its date and, if what we use your data for changes, we'll ask for your consent again. Every consent we keep records which version you gave it under.
